ਓਂਟਾਰੀਓ: ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ਦੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਓਂਟਾਰੀਓ ਦੀ ਲੰਡਨ ਸਿਟੀ ‘ਚ ਇਨਸਾਨੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਰਮਸਾਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਦਰਅਸਲ ਇੱਕ 20 ਸਾਲਾ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨੇ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ‘ਚ ਪੈਦਲ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਪੰਜ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਪਿੱਕਅੱਪ ਟਰੱਕ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਜੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ‘ਚ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋਏ 9 ਸਾਲਾ ਬੱਚੇ ਦਾ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਲਾਜ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕਾਂ ‘ਚ 74 ਸਾਲਾ ਮਹਿਲਾ, 46 ਸਾਲਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ, 44 ਸਾਲਾ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਤੇ 15 ਸਾਲਾ ਲੜਕੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।
ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਘਟਨਾ ਰਾਤ 8:40 ‘ਤੇ ਹਾਈਡ ਪਾਰਕ ਤੇ ਸਾਊਥ ਕੈਰੇਜ ਰੋਡ ‘ਤੇ ਵਾਪਰੀ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਫਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਟਰੱਕ ਚਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਜਾਣਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੇ ਘਟਨਾ ਸਮੇਂ ਬੁਲੇਟ ਪਰੂਫ ਜੈਕੇਟ ਵੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।

ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਕੁੱਝ ਦੇਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਹੀ ਪਿੱਕਅੱਪ ਟਰੱਕ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਨਥਾਨੀਅਲ ਵੈਲਟਮੈਨ ਨੂੰ ਘਟਨਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ 7 ਕਿਲੋਮੀਟਰ ਦੂਰ ਆਕਸਫੋਰਡ ਸਟਰੀਟ ‘ਤੇ ਸਥਿਤ ਚੈਰੀਹਿੱਲ ਵਿਲੇਜ ਮਾਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਰਕਿੰਗ ਲੌਟ ‘ਚੋਂ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜਸਟਿਨ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਸਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਮੀਅਰ, ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮੇਅਰ, ਐਮਪੀ ਅਤੇ ਐਮ ਪੀ ਪੀਜ਼ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
