ਵਾਸ਼ਿੰਗਟਨ: ਨਿਊ ਮੈਕਸੀਕੋ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਟਾ ਫੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਦੇ ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ‘ਚ ਭੰਨਤੋੜ ਦੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਈ ਹੈ। ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਨਫਰਤ ਭਰੀ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਬਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਹਨ। ਖਬਰਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਇੰਡੀਅਨ ਪੈਲੇਸ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ‘ਚ ਲਗਭਗ ਇੱਕ ਲੱਖ ਡਾਲਰ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਸਥਾਨਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਐਫਬੀਆਈ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਗ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਸਿੱਖ ਅਮੇਰਿਕਨ ਲੀਗਲ ਡਿਫੈਂਸ ਐਂਡ ਐਜੁਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਫੰਡ (SALDEF) ਦੀ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਕਿਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਗਿਲ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਫਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਕਿਰਨ ਕੌਰ ਗਿੱਲ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਂਟਾ ਫੇ ‘ਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਥੇ 60 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਜੁਲ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਮਰੀਕੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਤੱਤਕਾਲ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਜੇਕਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਫਰਨੀਚਰ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਕੱਚ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਤੋੜ ਦਿਤੇ ਗਏ, ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਦੇ ਰੈਕ ਖਾਲੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ। ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੰਧਾਂ, ਕਾਉਂਟਰਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਵ੍ਹਾਈਟ ਪਾਵਰ, ਟਰੰਪ 2020, ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਓ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਗਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਫਰਤ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ।
