ਐਲਬਰਟਾ: ਕੈਨੇਡਾ ‘ਚ ਵਾਪਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੜਕ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ RCMP ‘ਚ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਮੀ ਉਰਫ ਹਾਰਵੀ ਐਲਬਰਟਾ ਸਟ੍ਰੈਥਕੋਨਾ ਕਾਊਂਟੀ (Alberta’s Strathcona County) ‘ਚ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਸੀ।
ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੜਕੇ 2 ਵਜੇ ਦੇ ਲਗਭਗ ਫੋਨ ‘ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਮਿਲੀ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਰਵਾਨਾ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਪਰ ਰਾਹ ‘ਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਬੈਰੀਅਰ ਨਾਲ ਟੱਕਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ।

ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਆਰਸੀਐਮਪੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਐਮਰਜੈਂਸੀ ਦਸਤਾ ਵੀ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਿਆ ਪਰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਹਾਰਵੀ ਜ਼ਖਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਬ ਨਾਂ ਸਹਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ ਹੀ ਦਮ ਤੋੜ ਗਿਆ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜਸਟਿਨ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਨੇ ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਮੀ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ‘ਤੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਸਟਿਨ ਟਰੂਡੋ ਨੇ ਟਵੀਟ ਕਰ ਲਿਖਿਆ, ‘ਇਸ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਘੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਡਿਊਟੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹਾਦਸੇ ‘ਚ ਜਾਨ ਗਵਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਾਂਸਟੇਬਲ ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਮੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਂ।’
